Stripe does not store user funds at Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), Silicon Valley Bank UK (SVB UK), or Signature Bank (“impacted banks”).
After the FDIC takeover of SVB, the HSBC purchase of SVB UK, and the FDIC takeover of Signature Bank, Stripe temporarily paused some money movements to and from these banks due to their services being unavailable or unreliable. Stripe has since confirmed the operational status of these banks and has resumed money movements with them.
Stripe’s money movements with other banks continue to operate normally. We’ll regularly update this page as any relevant events unfold.
We are tracking which bank services are available and reliable. Things are changing quickly, and we will update this article as we learn more.

While the situation with impacted banks was unfolding, Stripe paused some money movements. We have since resumed money movements per the status summary above.
If you have Stripe Dashboard access, visit the Payouts section of your Dashboard to configure your payout settings.
If you are a Stripe Express user, visit the Express Dashboard to update your bank accounts.
You can pause your payouts by switching to a manual payout schedule via the Payouts section of your Stripe Dashboard. This will stop any payouts being sent automatically, and allow you to control when (and where) they are sent.
Payouts are scheduled on a daily basis, at approximately 00:00-01:00 UTC. Although previously-initiated payouts cannot be redirected to a new bank account, newly-generated payouts will be directed to the current bank account.
Automatic payouts cannot be canceled, but manual payouts that have not yet settled can be. See Stripe Docs for more details.
Only the connected account can update their payout bank accounts. You can provide the following instructions to your connected accounts to update their bank account:
The easiest way to do this is with the API. For a given connected account, you can list bank accounts with the bank accounts API. Examine the routing_number
field and see if it corresponds to a routing number of an impacted bank.

As a Custom Connect platform, you have the ability to update your connected accounts’ bank accounts directly.
Collect new bank account information from your connected accounts
Contact impacted connected accounts and inform them that they need to update their payout bank account.
If your application allows for editing of bank account information, route your users to your application to add a new bank account and set it as the default payout method. To ensure that the new bank account is the default bank account, you will need to create a new bank account for the user and set default_for_currency = true
.
If your application doesn’t allow for editing of bank account information, provide a way for your users to contact you. You can then manually add bank accounts for your connected accounts through the platform Stripe Dashboard by following this guide.
Delete the old bank account (optional)
Once your user has a new bank account attached, you can optionally delete the old bank account.
Note that you cannot delete the impacted bank account if it is the only bank account available for a connected account. You must have at least one default bank account on file.
You can check the status of your pending funds in the Balance tab of your Stripe Dashboard.
For instructions on how to fund your Stripe Payment balance, please see this documentation. To check your current Payment balance, follow steps outlined here. For your Stripe Issuing balance, please refer to the question “For my Stripe Issuing card program, what should I do to make sure my balance has adequate funds?” For Stripe Treasury users, here is the documentation on how to move money into your Treasury financial accounts.
ACH Debit top-ups that were previously delayed as of March 9th or 10th will be available starting March 14th. Otherwise top-ups will become available on your normal schedule.
For Stripe Issuing users, to avoid interruptions to your card issuing program in the event these top-ups are returned, we recommend adding additional funds to your Issuing Balance to ensure your account remains in a funded and operational state.
As of March 14, 2023 at 4PM GMT, we have resumed automatic payouts to SVB UK accounts. The first automatic payouts went out on March 15, 2023 and you should expect to receive the funds at your normal payout speed.
As of March 14, 2023 at 4PM GMT, we have resumed manual payouts to SVB UK accounts. You will receive the funds at your normal payout speed.
Yes, we are currently accepting bank debit payments from SVB and Signature Bank accounts. We have temporarily disabled ACH Faster Settlement for new SVB and Signature Bank payments until we’re able to confirm SVB processing times. We will update this article when Faster Settlement is re-enabled for SVB and Signature Bank payments.
Bank debit payments that were previously delayed as of March 10th will become available on March 15th.
While you can now resume pull funding (ACH debit) from SVB and Signature Bank, we have also enabled push funding for Stripe Issuing users who typically used ACH debit from SVB or Signature Bank to top-up their balance. Push funding allows you to initiate a wire or an ACH credit from your bank into Stripe. For instructions on how to push funds to your Issuing balance (including how to obtain routing numbers for push funding), please see this documentation. To check your current balance, follow steps outlined here. If you don’t have access and need to request it, reach out to support-issuing@stripe.com.
The fastest way to add funds to your Issuing Balance is to use push funding, which can take from a few minutes (for a wire) up to 1 business day (ACH) for funds to be available. You can continue to use pull funding (ACH debit), however it can take up to 5 business days for funds to be available in your Issuing Balance.
