Update existing bank account information
This article helped 96% of Stripe users solve their issue.
Update your existing bank account details through the Settings > Business Settings menu in the Stripe Dashboard.
💡 Only those with Admin or Owner permissions can add, edit, or delete bank account details.
Bank account details can be updated directly from the Stripe Dashboard:
- Click the Settings icon and select Business Settings.
- Click External Payout Accounts and Scheduling
- Click Edit.
- Click to receive the verification email. You also may be required to enter the previous bank account information as a security measure.
- Enter the updated bank account information.
Ensure the account number, routing number, and name match your bank statement. Use the same name (either individual name or company name) from your bank statement.
- Click Edit account to save.
Additional Tips
- Before you can remove a bank account from a Stripe user account, you must replace it with another active bank account so that Stripe can process payouts, refunds, and disputes. For more information on Stripe’s retention practices, see Stripe Privacy Policy.
- If your bank account information is updated while a payout is already "in transit", that payout will be sent to your old bank account.
