When a dispute is created and protected by Chargeback Protection, the protected amount, dispute fee, and any associated monitoring program fees count towards the limit for the calendar year.

The dispute must be one of the following types of reason codes (as identified by the relevant Card Network) listed in Appendix 1 of the Terms of Service:

  • Visa: 10.4 Other Fraud - Card Absent Environment
  • Mastercard: 4837 No Cardholder Authorization

You’ll know a dispute was protected by Chargeback Protection if you open the detailed Payment view for a Disputed charge and it has the status of Protected. If you see this, no further action is required for that dispute.
