Claiming Unclaimed Funds For An Inactive Account
I received a letter from Stripe that my account is inactive and I have unclaimed funds. How do I claim my funds?
If you received a letter from Stripe indicating that you have an inactive account with unclaimed funds and you have determined that the balance is owed to you, you will need to work with Stripe to claim your inactive account balance. You can do this by logging into your Stripe Dashboard and requesting an instant payout for the Stripe balance amount included in the letter you received.
You may need to verify your Stripe account or update your bank account information. Read more if you're having trouble signing into your Stripe account.
I received a letter from Stripe that my account is inactive and I have unclaimed funds but I didn’t respond or claim my unclaimed fund balance by the deadline, what do I do?
If you received a mailed letter from Stripe notifying you that you have an inactive account with unclaimed funds but did not respond by the deadline listed in the letter, Stripe has sent (or escheated) the unclaimed funds to the appropriate US state with your last known address and you can no longer claim your unclaimed funds from Stripe.
What you can do instead is go to your state’s unclaimed property website and claim the funds from that US state directly. The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) has an interactive map that can direct you to the official government unclaimed property program for your state. There is no deadline for you to recover unclaimed funds from a US state.
Once the unclaimed funds are reported to the appropriate state, can Stripe help me claim the unclaimed funds with the state directly?
No, Stripe is unable to assist in returning the unclaimed funds to you once Stripe sends them to the applicable state agency. Read more on how to contact your applicable state agency directly.
