In Sweden, as of July 2020, if a merchant’s online checkout offers both credit and debit payment methods (such as credit cards and debit cards), legislation requires that the debit payment method must be presented before the credit payment method. Furthermore, if both a debit and credit payment method are available, the credit payment method may not be pre-selected.
