# Payment method legislation in Finland

As of October 2023, online retailers and payment service providers must present available payment methods in the following order to consumers in Finland:
* Payment methods that do not involve applying for credit, using credit, or deferring payment (such as immediate online payment where consumers' accounts are debited right away, and debit card payments).
* Methods that may involve applying for credit, using credit, or deferring payment.
* Methods that necessarily involve applying for credit, using credit, or deferring payment.
