Link is Stripe’s one-click checkout experience. Link lets your customers securely save their payment information and re-use it on your site and across hundreds of thousands of businesses for faster checkout. When new customers come to your site, they can use Link via the Card Element to pay with their saved payment details. With Link, customers skip the hassle of manually entering their payment information, resulting in:
Link is fully compatible with the other features you receive from card payments (subscriptions, etc). There are no additional fees. The same pricing applies to Link for Card Element as for other card payments.
Link is globally available in the single line Card Element and it is in the process of being rolled out in the split Elements (such as Card Number, Expiry, and CVC).
Over time, we’ll increase the number of funding sources customers can pay with through their Link account to match local payment method preferences.
For returning Link customers, when they click on the Link button within the Card Element, they’re asked to authenticate with an SMS or email code. After the customer authenticates, Link loads their previously saved payment details, and then they can pay with one click. If this customer previously authenticated their account in the last 90 days on your site or through a different Link-enabled business, they won’t need to do it again and can pay instantly.
Customers who are new to Link are prompted to save their information in a Link account when they click on the Link button.
You can learn more about your customer’s Link experience in the Link customer FAQ.
Link is a payment option through the Card Element, and is enabled automatically, with no code changes required. If you want to turn off Link for all instances of the Card Element, you can do so in your Payment Method settings. To selectively disable Link in the Card Element, use the disableLink parameter. You only need to use one of these controls: if either disableLink is true or Link in the Card Element is disabled in settings, Link won’t show in the Card Element.
For platforms: Link is automatically available to any accounts that access the Card Element through a Connect platform integration. Depending on a platform’s integration, a platform may be able to give its users (connected accounts) the ability to customize their own Link settings in the Dashboard. To determine if your platform is eligible, review requirements in docs.
For connected accounts that process payments with a platform: If your platform offers you the ability to customize your Link settings for platform payments from your own Stripe Dashboard, then you can manage your Link in Card Element settings within Payment Method settings by selecting your platform from the dropdown menu at the top of the page.
If your platform is not able to offer you settings customization, then the platform will determine Link’s availability for all payments processed through the platform, and you will not have settings control for platform payments in your Dashboard.
For payments you process without a platform, you can manage Link in Payment Method settings by selecting “no platform” from the dropdown menu at the top of the page.
