Which payment methods have additional considerations that may impact migration plans?
Some payment methods have additional considerations that should be factored into your migration planning. If you use one of the following payment methods, please pay close attention to this additional information while you are scoping and scheduling your migration work.
- Multibanco: Support for Multibanco on Payment Intents was made generally available in June 2024. For more information, follow these instructions for integrating with Multibanco on Stripe's latest APIs.
- Paper Cheques: Paper Cheques are not yet supported on Payment Intents. If you’re only using Paper Cheques via Stripe Billing, and do not integrate directly with the Sources API, no action is needed – Stripe will seamlessly migrate your account to the new product once it’s ready. If you do integrate with the Sources API for Paper Cheques, you’ll need to eventually upgrade your integration to Payment Intents. We expect to run a pilot for this soon. We will not require users to migrate their Paper Cheques volume off of Sources until a solution is in place. For more details, please see: When will Paper Cheques be available on Payment Intents?
- SEPA Credit Transfer + Stripe Billing: All existing SEPA Credit Transfer users should migrate their volume to EUR Bank Transfers. If you are a Stripe Billing (Invoices or Subscriptions) user who also uses SEPA Credit Transfer, you can begin the process of migrating your integration to EUR Bank Transfers by referring to the migration guide here. Please note that the migration deadline for other non-card payment methods will also apply to SEPA Credit Transfer. For additional information, please see: How can I migrate my SEPA Credit Transfer volume?
- Sofort: Klarna acquired Sofort in 2014 and plans to deprecate Sofort as a standalone payment method on 30 September 2024. We are working to confirm whether there will be any extensions granted to that date. Please take this upcoming deprecation into consideration when deciding whether to include Sofort in the scope of your migration.
We will continue to provide updates for each of these special case payment methods as new information is available. If you believe that any of these considerations will impede your ability to complete your migration by the deadline, you have the option to request a one-time extension. To learn how to do so, please refer to: How can I request more time to migrate?
