# Supported payment methods, currencies and businesses for Stripe accounts in India

## Supported businesses
* Stripe supports any business entity based in India that is a Company, Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) or Sole Proprietorship, for both domestic and international payments.
* We also support business entities that are Individuals for domestic payments only.
* We typically distinguish Sole Proprietorships as MSME businesses that are formally registered with the Indian government and hold documentation as an Udyam registration. Individuals are typically freelancers who are starting a business but have not formally registered it.
* We don't support non-profit entities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), simple partnerships, or businesses designated as [prohibited and restricted](https://stripe.com/in/legal/restricted-businesses).

## Local payment methods coverage
We don't support local payment methods for businesses in India, such as UPI, Netbanking, Buy-Now-Pay-Later, and Equated Monthly Installments (EMIs).
