# Stripe India support for marketplaces

Stripe services are invite-only in India. Businesses from India are not able to sign up for a new Stripe account through our website, and instead need to [request an invite](https://stripe.com/contact/sales). Read more about invite-only Stripe accounts in India.

Stripe Connect is an API and set of tools used to route payments between a business, customers, and recipients who need to get paid. It powers payments for business models like [marketplaces](https://stripe.com/docs/connect/collect-then-transfer-guide) and [software platforms](https://stripe.com/docs/connect/enable-payment-acceptance-guide).
Restrictions on Connect for Stripe India:
* Depending on your preferred integration, you may need to engage with the sales team&nbsp;
* On behalf of capability for destination charges is not supported for all integrations
* Separate charges and transfers charge type, or standalone transfers via the dashboard or API to connected accounts, are currently not supported
* Manual payouts to connected accounts is supported for limited use-cases. Contact Support if you are interested in this feature.
* Platform account top-ups are only supported for negative balances
* Cross border transactions are only supported for:
  * Connected accounts with direct charges and without application fee, who have access to the Stripe Dashboard, and where loss liability and fee collection are managed by Stripe
  * US-based platforms with connected accounts on the [Recipient Terms of Service](https://stripe.com/docs/connect/service-agreement-types) with [Separate Charges and Transfers](https://stripe.com/docs/connect/separate-charges-and-transfers) without on_behalf_of or Top-up and Transfers. [Destination charges](https://stripe.com/docs/connect/destination-charges) and [destination charges with on_behalf_of](https://stripe.com/docs/connect/destination-charges) are not supported
* Due to [India data local storage requirements](https://stripe.com/en-in/india-data-storage-faq), we don't support updating country to or from India after account creation. You will need to create a new connected account and select the revised country upon account creation
### Restrictions on cross-border transactions
