Stripe builds technology that’s used by millions of companies around the world such as Amazon, Google, and Zoom. We help with everything from accepting payments to managing subscriptions and verifying identities. Every year, we handle hundreds of billions of dollars of payments.
Stripe is a service provider that facilitates the refund on behalf of your merchant that provides the original goods or service. Your merchant provided Stripe with your email address to facilitate the refund.
Stripe may ask you for your bank account information on behalf of your merchant in order to provide you a refund for goods or services purchased with a payment method that does not allow for direct refunds.
Stripe will send refund emails from “stripe.com” email addresses in a format similar to “support+acct_1234abcd@stripe.com”. Please check the sending email address to ensure that the domain is “stripe.com” (and not a misspelling such as “stirpe.com”). You can also hover over the links in the email body to confirm that they point to “stripe.com” URLs. After clicking the button to enter your account information, you can also double check in your browser that the website is a “stripe.com” domain. More info is provided here.
Stripe may access and store copies of the following financial information types from your selected account so that we can facilitate the refund:
Account details, including account and routing number, local account identification number (e.g., CLABE (MX only))
Identity information, including your email, name, Tax ID, and mailing address.
The information obtained by Stripe may vary based on your location and the original form of payment.
We may give your merchant access to your information to facilitate your customer service requests or questions.
