Cards must be created under cardholders. You cannot create a card without first creating a cardholder. 

Cards can be created as one of two types:

• A virtual card, or

• A physical card

Once a card is created, the card status must be set to “active” before it can be used. Users have the option of choosing to activate the card upon creation, or once the cardholder has received the card.

This can be done via the Dashboard, or by updating the card status to `active` via the API.

Remember to add funds to your Issuing balance before use. If there are insufficient funds in the balance, the authorizations will be declined.
