FAQ for pricing of international card payments in Singapore and Hong Kong

Please see below for the pricing structure for international card payments accepted by businesses in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Note: This pricing update does not apply to Custom and Express accounts.

How will this affect my fees?

With the removal of the 1% international card fee, businesses can see savings when accepting payments in international currencies, especially when accepting and making payouts in USD.

Payment processing fees

1. You receive a card payment of $100 USD from a customer

FX fees of 2% are only incurred when currency conversion is required.

We charge 1% of the amount paid out in USD with a minimum fee of $5 USD. You can also choose to combine payouts instead. + 7% GST of USD will be applied to Singapore businesses.

A 2% currency conversion fee, or FX fee, will only be charged in addition to the above when you require conversion to USD, SGD, or HKD.

Note: These scenarios do not reflect charges for other Stripe products you may be using, such as Stripe Radar.

What are international card fees?

Previously we charged a fee of 1% on payments using international cards—those issued outside Singapore or Hong Kong, depending on where your Stripe account is based. We won’t be charging this fee anymore starting September 7, 2021.

What are USD payout fees?

When you make a payout in USD to your connected bank account, we will charge 1% of the amount paid out in USD with a minimum fee of $5 USD per transaction.

What are FX fees or currency conversion fees?

Stripe supports processing charges in 135+ currencies, allowing you to present prices in a customer’s native currency. Doing so can improve sales and help customers avoid conversion costs. When your presentment currency differs from your settlement currency—the currency accepted by any of your bank accounts or debit cards—we will charge a 2% fee to convert the payment currency to your settlement currency, which can either be USD or SGD/HKD depending on where your business is based.
