Does this change impact my domestic transactions?

No, this change only impacts cross-border transactions and domestic transactions (e.g. UK business selling to UK card holder) pricing remains unchanged. Please refer to the pricing page for the most up-to-date pricing.

When will these changes take effect?

To acknowledge the inconvenience this may cause your business, we are extending the current fees and categorisation of cross-border fees on your account until 1 July 2022. The new fees and categorisation will take effect on 1 July 2022. Your continued use of Stripe’s services after 1 July 2022 is subject to these updated terms. Any termination rights you have under your agreement with us are unaffected by this change.

Do I need to take action?

There’s no action necessary for you at this time and the fees will automatically update on 1 July 2022 if you have cross-border transactions that are subject to the price changes above.

How can I calculate the impact to my business?

The best way to calculate the impact these changes might have to your business is to leverage the Reports section of your Stripe Dashboard.

  1. Go to the Reports section of your Dashboard

  2. Click on “Download” located at the top right hand of the “Balance change from activity” module

  3. Export your activity to a .CSV file and ensure that “Card country” is selected as a column.

  4. Review transactions processed by the countries impacted

Starting 1 July 2022, these types of transactions will be subject to the new fees.

How else can I accept cross-border payments?

We recognise that these changes may impact your business especially if you conduct business internationally and remind you of options that are available to you as a Stripe user:

Local payment methods: Payment methods that don’t go through the card networks, like SEPA Direct Debit, iDEAL, giropay and Bancontact are available. If you have international customers, a bank debit payment method can be both cost effective and preferable to end-customers. Stripe offers a variety of local payment methods which can be quickly added to your integration. For more information, view our payment method guide.

I’m a Connect Platform with users that have cross-border transactions. What do I need to do?

If you use Connect with Standard accounts, we’ve handled the communication for you by letting affected users know about the changes in their cross-border fees. If you use Connect with Custom accounts, you are responsible for any updates to your own pricing in line with these changes, and for communicating with your users.

Why did I get this notice?

This support page provides you with more details on the notice we sent you describing the changes to your fees. That notice is a legal notice sent to Stripe users, even those who have unsubscribed from optional marketing notices. You cannot unsubscribe from legal notices, but if you’d prefer not to receive any further legal notices from Stripe, you can close your account by following these steps.
