Enable two-step authentication using a mobile app

How do I set up two-step authentication using a mobile app, like Google Authenticator or Authenticator Plus?

To set up two-step authentication using a mobile app, such as Google Authenticator (available for iOS and Android) or other options such as Authenticator Plus and Duo Mobile:

  1. Go to your user profile.
  2. Click Add under the Two-step authentication section.
  3. Select Add Google Authenticator. You will be asked to scan the barcode on your screen with your mobile device’s camera.

  4. Confirm the code that is shown on your device to finish the setup.
  5. Write down the emergency back-up code shown and store it in a safe place.

The setup process is then complete. Going forward, Stripe will request a code if you log in from a new device, as well as periodically to make sure it’s still secure.

Important: These codes are specific to that particular device and cannot be transferred. If you are going to switch to a new phone or wipe your phone, you’ll need to disable two-step authentication before you do so, then re-enable it using your new phone.
