# Declined charges on Malaysia-based Stripe accounts

### Malaysian debit cards
Malaysia-issued debit cards are not automatically activated for online payments. If a Malaysian debit card is used to make a payment online but the customer has not set it up to allow online payments, the bank will decline the charge. Usually the error code associated with this decline is `transaction_not_allowed`.
We recommend that merchants inform their consumers using a Malaysia-issued debit card to reach out to their banks to activate their debit cards for online purchases.
### American Express cards
Stripe does not support American Express transactions in Malaysia at this time. Any charges made using an American Express card will be declined.
