April 2024 pricing update for businesses on standard pricing in Australia

As of 1 April 2024, we will decrease our domestic card processing fees for Australian businesses on standard pricing from 1.75% + AU$0.30 to 1.70% + AU$0.30 for online (card not present) payments, and from 1.75% + AU$0.10 to 1.70% + AU$0.10 for Stripe Terminal (card present) payments.

FAQ

Why are these fees decreasing?

This change is enabled by least-cost routing. In most cases, when your customers pay with debit cards issued in Australia, two card networks are presented for each transaction. Stripe generally routes to the network with lower average cost when feasible, and passes those savings on to you. Learn more.

What types of transaction does this affect?

This change applies to successful domestic credit or debit card transactions processed through Stripe for all card networks, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, eftpos, JCB and UnionPay. There is no change to processing fees for international cards.

Which businesses are affected by this change?

These changes apply to all businesses on Stripe's standard pricing plan. If you're on a custom pricing plan, there will be no changes to your current pricing.

I'm a Connect Platform. How does this affect my connected accounts?

If you use Connect with Standard accounts, these changes will apply to the Stripe fees for your connected accounts. Stripe will notify your connected accounts about the changes automatically. There's no action needed from you, but you are welcome to share additional communication with them about the change.

If you use Connect with Custom accounts, these changes will apply to your Stripe fees from 1 April 2024. You are responsible for any updates to your own pricing in line with these changes, and for communicating with your users.
