Updating tax information for Stripe accounts in Brazil

The tax ID associated to a Stripe account in Brazil (CPF or CNPJ) and the business type (i.e. company, individual) can NOT be changed once details have been verified.

For Individual accounts:

  • CPF can NOT be changed in the account after this information is verified.
  • If the representative CPF needs to change, a new Stripe account must be created.
  • If the business type needs to change to CNPJ (i.e. from individual to company), a new Stripe account must be created.

For company, LTD and other entities associated with CNPJ:

  • CNPJ can NOT be changed after this information is verified
  • Representative details can be changed in this case.
  • If the CNPJ needs to change, a new Stripe account must be created instead.
  • If the business type needs to change to CPF (i.e. from company to individual), a new Stripe account must be created.
