Stripe Atlas restricted business categories

Atlas does not permit businesses that sell illegal products or services, promote violence, or otherwise violate our Terms of Service. By submitting an Atlas application, you agree not to operate in any of the following unsupported business categories.

Business categories restricted from Atlas

Atlas does not support businesses in or related to the following categories:

  • Illegal drugs: Production, promotion, or sales of illegal drugs. This includes sales and auxiliary businesses related to marijuana, and products that mimic illegal drugs.
  • Marketing certain products to minors: Businesses that market alcohol, tobacco, or sexual products directly or exclusively to children under 18 years old. This may include flavored tobacco products, electronic or otherwise.
  • Unauthorized or unregulated financial services: Shell banks, anonymous financial accounts, and predatory lending services.
  • Hazardous or restricted materials: Toxic, explosive, flammable, or radioactive materials and EPA-restricted pesticides.
  • Offensive or discriminatory products: Content, products or services that promote hate or violence, or discriminate against legally protected classes.
  • Unregulated health services: Unregistered medical benefit packages, pseudo-pharmaceuticals with unsubstantiated claims, or unapproved therapeutic drugs.
  • Intellectual property infringements: Counterfeit or unauthorized use of IP, and unauthorized resale of goods. 
  • Weapons and violence: Firearms, ammunition, weapons components, or other products that enable violence.  
  • Deceptive or unethical practices: Get-rich-quick schemes, document falsification, unauthorized payment facilitation, telecommunication manipulation, and expired or harmful products.

Business categories Atlas supports, but which may not be supported on Stripe Payments

Please note that other Stripe products (including payments) may have additional eligibility requirements. Atlas can form businesses in or related to the following categories, but these categories may be restricted from using Stripe Payments due to their presence on Stripe’s general list of prohibited businesses.

  • Adult content and services: Pornography, dating websites, and sexually oriented products.
  • Debt and credit services: Debt collections, credit repair/monitoring, and debt relief companies.
  • Cryptocurrency: Trading, wallets, mining, ICOs, and yield accounts.
  • Gambling and betting: Online or brick-and-mortar casinos, lotteries, and skill games with prizes.
  • Non-fungible tokens (NFTs): First or secondary sales, marketplace platforms, and SaaS solutions related to NFT’s.
  • Identity services and insurance: Identify monitoring, recovery, and identity theft insurance.
  • Certain financial legal services: Bankruptcy lawyers, bail bonds, and payday lenders.
  • Digital promotion products: Selling traffic or followers to websites or social media accounts.
  • Travel organizations: Airlines, timeshares, and cruises that pose heightened financial risk.
