Singapore: Invite an authorized business representative

In line with regulatory requirements from the MAS, Stripe is required to verify that the business representative holds a position of authority in the business.

If you don’t hold a position as a key officer, we might ask you to add another business representative who is a director or holds a position of authority within the company. To do so, you can invite a key officer of your business to join the account and complete the verification process themselves.

We will verify the role and identity of this person, so it is important that you add the correct representative.

Add a director

Go to Business Details and click “Add someone new” under the Management and Ownership section. Add the director’s name and email address and check the box that reads “This person is a member of the governing board of the company”.

If the director is also a shareholder holding more than 25% of the shares, you should also select “This person owns 25% or more of the company”.

Upon returning to Business Details page, you will be asked to provide more information for the added director. Click on "Update" button next to the newly added director's name. You will need to provide aliases (if any), date of birth, home address and ID details based on the country of this director.

Invite a director to complete their information

If you would like the director or any other key officers to provide their information directly, you can invite them to complete their information for the Stripe account application:

  1. Complete the account creation with the information you have.
  2. Visit the Team And security section in your Settings.
  3. Click on “+ New Member” to add information about the business owner.
  4. Enter the email ID for the owner, select “Administrator” role and click on send invites. Note that ”IAM Admin” won’t work here
  5. Follow the instructions, which may include additional verification using e-mail and SMS before sending out the invite.

This will send them an invitation and once they complete logging into Stripe Dashboard, they will be added as an ‘Administrator’ to your Stripe Account.

Once the director has been added to the account, you will see they are “missing required information”. Have the director log in and update their personal information before proceeding to the next step.

Replace the business representative

Once you have added the director (or any other key officer), they need to be added as a business representative. Navigate back to Business Details page, and you will see a banner under Management and Ownership, which nudges you to “Add or select a person who has the authority to represent your organization”. Click Choose and select the director you just added.

At this point, you might see a pop-up notification warning you that the newly elected representative will need to complete identity verification within 7 days, or payouts might be paused.

Note that the director might have to log in again to verify their identity using Singpass MyInfo.
