Why do I have a charge on my card statement from Stripe, yet I'm not a Stripe user?

Stripe processes payments for thousands of online merchants, so it’s likely that this charge was made by one that uses Stripe. If you’re wanting to know more about a charge made with an American Express card, for example, there can be a delay in displaying the merchant you had purchased from. This means that, for a short period of time (usually around 48 hours), your statement will temporarily show a pending charge from “Stripe”. Once the charge is completed, it will update with more detailed information about the merchant.

Our support team can help identify these types of charges for you and the easiest way to find out which of our users a charge was made by is with some further details, which you can send to us:

  • Type of card (such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express)
  • Date of the charge
  • Currency amount
  • Last four digits of the card
  • Expiration date
  • Name on the card and any additional cardholders
