Dispute process and submitting evidence

Dispute process

A dispute occurs when an account owner contacts their bank to contest a payment to you for one of a number of possible reasons. What happens after that varies slightly across different card networks, but typically follows a standard pattern.

The process for disputes is outlined in our Stripe Docs page here:

How Disputes Work

Submitting evidence

If you believe the dispute reason is incorrect and want to challenge it, you can upload evidence supporting why the payment was valid through the Dashboard or via the API. After you submit evidence, Stripe will send it to the card issuer for their review.
