Chrome third-party cookie warnings for websites using Stripe.js

If your website uses Stripe.js, you or your customers using Google Chrome might see a warning in the Developer Tools console related to third-party cookies.

The warning will not negatively impact your integration with Stripe.js or your users, and you don’t need to take any action. This article does not apply to websites using Connect.js, which does not use third-party cookies.

What do the warnings look like?

Th console warning in Chrome likely includes one of these messages:

  • “Third-party websites are allowed to read cookies on this page”
  • “Third-party cookie will be blocked. Learn more in the Issues tab”

The Issues tab in the console might include one of the following:

  • “Third-party websites are allowed to read cookies on this page”
  • “Reading cookie in cross-site context will be blocked in future Chrome versions”

Why are these warnings showing up?

Due to current Stripe.js behavior, these warnings are expected. The warnings relate to a Google initiative to deprecate third-party cookies in Chrome. Stripe is aware of the situation, and is working with Google accordingly.
