# How do I update my payout account details if I don't have my previous bank or card details?

Not all payout accounts require verification before editing. Bank accounts need verification after the first payout. Debit cards always require verification.
If you don't have your previous bank account or debit card information, you have two options to verify your identity and update your account details:

### Verify your identity
In the Express dashboard navigate to **Settings >** scroll to **Payout details > Edit**. You may be asked for verification at this point.
If you don't have your previous bank account or debit card information available, click **you can verify your identity instead**. This takes you to a page to upload an identification document like a driver's license or passport to verify your identity. Once verified, you can update your account details.
If you don't see the **you can verify your identity instead** option, you may need to update your date of birth or other verification information first.
To update your verification information:
1. Log in to your [Express Dashboard](https://connect.stripe.com/express_login) and click **Settings**.
1. Update your details under **Personal details**.

### Use an update code from your platform
Not all platforms can generate update codes. If your platform is unable to provide a code, contact Stripe Support for assistance.
If you're unable to verify your identity, contact your platform and ask them to generate an update code for you.
Once your platform generates the code:
1. You'll receive an email from Stripe containing the update code.
1. Log in to your [Express Dashboard](https://connect.stripe.com/express_login) and click **Setings**.
1. Scroll to **Payout Details** and click **Edit**.
1. Enter the update code when prompted.
1. Once verified, you can update your account details.
The update code is valid for 7 days. If the code expires before you complete your update, contact your platform to request a new code.
