Stripe partners with platforms to collect W-8 and W-9 tax forms. A [Form W-9](https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw9.pdf) is for [US residents or citizens](https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/classification-of-taxpayers-for-us-tax-purposes) and is used to confirm your tax identification number (TIN). A [Form W-8](https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw8ben.pdf) is for non-US residents and is used to confirm you are not a US taxpayer. These forms support 1099 tax form filing.
