Claiming Unclaimed Balances for an Inactive Account
I received a letter from Stripe that my account is inactive and I have unclaimed funds. How do I claim my funds?
If you received a letter from Stripe indicating that you have an inactive account with unclaimed funds and you have determined that the balance is owed to you, you will need to work with the Platform listed in your letter to claim your funds. You can do this by requesting a payout from your Platform for the balance amount included in the letter you received.
I received a letter from Stripe that my account is inactive and I have an unclaimed balance but I didn’t respond or claim my funds by the deadline, what do I do?
If you received a posted letter from Stripe notifying you that you have an inactive account with unclaimed funds but did not respond by the deadline listed in the letter, Stripe has transferred the unclaimed funds to the appropriate US state with your last known address and you can no longer retrieve your unclaimed funds from Stripe. What you can do instead is go to your state’s unclaimed property website and claim the funds from that US state directly. The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) has an interactive map that can direct you to the official government unclaimed property program for your state. There is no deadline for you to recover unclaimed funds from a US state.
My platform is no longer active but I have an unclaimed balance in my Stripe account. How do I claim my funds?
If you received a posted letter from Stripe notifying you that you have an inactive account with unclaimed funds but your platform is now defunct and no longer active, you will need to work with Stripe to claim your funds. Please contact Support and provide your letter reference number.
Once the unclaimed funds are reported to the appropriate state, can Stripe help me claim the unclaimed funds with the state directly?
