DoorDash partners with Stripe to file 1099 tax forms that summarize your earnings or sales activities. We’ve put together some FAQs to help you learn more about 1099s, and how to use Stripe Express to review your tax information and download your tax forms.

What is a 1099 tax form?
A 1099-NEC form summarizes Dashers' earnings as independent contractors in the US. It’s provided to you and the IRS, as well as some US states, if you earn $600 or more in 2021. If you're a Dasher, you’ll need this form to file your taxes.
A 1099-K form summarizes your sales activity as a Merchant. It’s provided to you and the IRS, as well as some US states, if you have more than $20,000 in sales activity and more than 200 transactions in 2021. If you’re a Merchant, you’ll need this form to file your taxes.
What is Stripe Express, and how do I access it?
Stripe Express allows you to update your tax information, download your tax forms, and track your earnings. If you're a Dasher and earned $600 or more in 2021 through DoorDash in the US, Stripe will send an email (titled “Confirm your tax information with DoorDash”) inviting you to create an account and log in to Stripe Express.
If you’re a Merchant, Stripe will send an email inviting you to create an account and log in to Stripe Express if you meet the following criteria in 2021:
You have more than $20,000 in sales activity and
You have more than 200 transactions and
You are based in the US or are a US taxpayer
I earned enough to need a 1099 form in 2021. Why haven’t I received an email from Stripe?
If you earned enough to need a 1099 form in 2021, you should have received an email from Stripe by January 12, 2022. Emails were sent out in phases to Dashers and Merchants starting in November 2021.
If you can’t find an email from Stripe, it’s possible that:
The email may be in your spam/junk mail folder. Please search your inbox for an email titled “Confirm your tax information with DoorDash” or “Review your draft DoorDash 1099 tax form."
DoorDash does not have your most current email address on file. Please check any other email addresses you may have used to sign up for DoorDash, or reach out to DoorDash to update your email.
The email address associated with your DoorDash account is incorrect, missing, or unable to receive mail.
DoorDash has chosen to postal deliver forms to you. If you have not received an email from Stripe or a 1099 in the mail, please reach out to DoorDash to get a copy of your tax forms.
Please note that if you earned enough to need a 1099 form in 2021 and do not receive an email from Stripe by early January, you will be mailed a paper copy of your 1099 tax form.
When will I receive my 1099 tax form?
Your 1099 tax form will be sent to you by January 31, 2022 (plus up to 10 business days for mail delivery of a paper form). Here are a few important dates to keep in mind:
By early January 2022: Stripe will email you instructions on how to set up a Stripe Express account. You’ll need to create an account and agree to e-delivery (i.e., agree to receive your 1099 tax form electronically via Stripe Express) to preview and download your 1099 tax form.
By January 23, 2022: Confirm your tax information (e.g., name, address, and SSN or EIN) is correct via Stripe Express.
By January 31, 2022:
Your 1099 tax form will be available to download via Stripe Express.
Your 1099 tax form will be mailed to you, if you don’t receive an email from Stripe or don’t consent to e-delivery. Please allow up to 10 business days for mail delivery.
DoorDash will file your 1099 tax form with the IRS and relevant state tax authorities.
April 18, 2022: IRS deadline to file taxes. You’ll need your 1099 tax form to file your taxes.
How do I update my tax information?
Open the email from Stripe and click on the “Verify information” button, which will prompt you to create a Stripe Express account. After you create an account, you’ll be able to review your tax information (e.g., name, address, and SSN or EIN) and make any necessary changes via Stripe Express. Please update your information no later than January 7, 2022.
Please note: If you don’t consent to e-delivery by January 7, 2022, we’ll automatically mail your 1099 tax form to the address on file, so it’s critical that your information is current, correct, and complete. You can still update your information via Stripe Express after January 7, 2022 and download your 1099 electronically. However, you will not be mailed a new paper copy of your 1099 tax form.
When you are setting up your account certain information will be locked once a legal entity is verified. You’ll need to contact Stripe Support and they can assist you with editing the below information:
Date of birth
Business Type: Individual, company, non-profit or government-entity (US only)
Above: You can review and update your tax information from the Tax forms page within Stripe Express.
Why is Stripe requesting my Social Security number (SSN), Employer Identification Number (EIN), or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)?
Your SSN, EIN, or ITIN is required to file your 1099 tax form with the IRS and relevant state tax authorities.

How can I download my 1099 tax form?
If you create a Stripe Express account and consent to e-delivery, Stripe will email you to let you know when your 1099 tax form is available for download via Stripe Express. If you don’t consent to e-delivery, Stripe will mail you a paper copy of your 1099 tax form instead.

How do I get a corrected 1099 tax form?
If you feel you need corrections made to a 1099 tax form that has already been ‘Filed’, use the edit option in the Tax Forms page of Stripe Express. Information you edit will not appear in the 1099 tax form in the Stripe Express dashboard but it is shared with DoorDash. You should reach out to DoorDash after you’ve made the edits you want and they can assist you with a correction. Once DoorDash ‘Files’ your correction, you will be notified via email and you will see a new 1099 tax form appear in the Stripe Express dashboard.
Please note that it can take up to 72 hours after the platform files the correction for you to be notified.
