Understand the minimum conditions for accepting tips or donations through Stripe

You must comply with the following requirements to accept tips or donations with Stripe Payments.

• Tips: a tip must be given for goods or services that have been provided (e.g. content)
• Donations: a donation must be tied to a specific charitable purpose that you’re committing to accomplish. You may not accept donations on behalf of someone other than yourself (but may have another person fulfil the charitable purpose on your behalf) and donations must be used for the charitable purpose described to the donor.

Stripe does not support payment processing for personal or peer-to-peer money transmission (e.g. sending money between friends). For more information on businesses restricted by Stripe Payments see Prohibited and Restricted Businesses and the Stripe Services Agreement.

When using Stripe to accept tips or donations, you acknowledge that you are aware of and acting in compliance with local laws on money transmission and relevant restrictions relating to donations to non-registered entities.

Regional restrictions

In addition to Stripe’s general guidelines, there are jurisdiction-specific prohibitions:

• Australia: Stripe cannot support donations which are not linked to specific goods or services being provided
• Hong Kong: Stripe cannot support donations
• India: Stripe cannot support charities or donations to them
• Indonesia: Stripe can only support donations to community organisations or social welfare institutions
• Japan: Stripe cannot support donations to individuals, and any donations (including to businesses or charities) must be made under an agreement to gift or donate between the payer and payee.
• Singapore: Stripe can only support donations to government-registered charitable or registered religious organisations

• Thailand: Stripe cannot support donations
