# GoFundMe and Stripe

To ensure your Stripe account is up and running to accept donations:
### Step 1
Create a [GoFundMe](https://www.gofundme.com/create/fundraiser/category). To do this, you'll need the following:
* A Stripe account [opened](https://dashboard.stripe.com/register) in one of GoFundMe’s [supported countries](https://support.gofundme.com/hc/en-us/articles/203604044-Is-my-country-supported-)
* A [bank account](https://stripe.com/docs/payouts) in the country selected above
* An address in the same country as the bank account receiving donations
* Personal information (full name, date of birth, government issued ID) of the bank account owner. You might be asked to verify this information later.
At the end of the form, you’ll be asked to connect to Stripe.
### Step 2
GoFundMe will send a link to activate your account via email. It must activate your account within 7 days or Stripe will be unable to continue accepting donations.
Alternatively, activate your account directly in your [Stripe Dashboard](https://dashboard.stripe.com/).
### Step 3
When activating your account:
* Raising funds for yourself or a friend? Register your Stripe account as an **Individual** campaign.
* Raising funds for a 501©(3) [Certified Charity](https://support.gofundme.com/hc/en-us/articles/203603984-What-campaign-type-should-I-choose-) in the US? Register as a **Nonprofit**.
### Step 4
Stripe might request that you upload a scan or photograph of a government-issued color photo ID. Submit this via the [Dashboard](https://dashboard.stripe.com/).
