For tax year 2023 and later, you can use the Stripe Dashboard to export the transaction log for each 1099 form. This transaction log lists the Stripe transactions that contribute to the form's total, allowing you to audit discrepancies and clarify which transactions are included in the tax form.
After exporting the transaction log, the sum of its Total Gross Volume column reflects the form total reported on your 1099-K form. We provide details for each transaction including the applicable account_id, payment_id, available_on_date, and the total gross volume relevant to that transaction.
Stripe uses the available_on
date of the balance transaction associated with the payment to determine which tax year the transaction belongs to. The available_on
date represents the date the funds become available in the Stripe account.
Stripe’s 1099 calculation methods convert non-USD transactions to USD using the market exchange rate from the day the transaction is created. This method might yield a different value than the Stripe Dashboard shows because we compute that value using an intra-day exchange rate adjusted for Stripe’s foreign exchange fee.
Due to rounding differences, you may find a difference between the total calculated from the transaction log and the total reported on your 1099-K form. Each transaction could only differ by a maximum of 1 cent, but when conducting a high volume of transactions throughout the year, this discrepancy may accumulate and become more noticeable.
Transaction logs only contain Stripe transactions. Manual updates through CSV imports or the Dashboard’s Tax form editor won’t be included in the transaction log.
Only users with Administrator access can use this functionality.
The transaction log file will be ready for download after Stripe completes the export process. If you selected the email notification option, you will also receive an email from notification@stripe.com
containing a link to download your transaction log.
