Set up a passkey for one-click login

Passkeys allow you to securely sign in to the Stripe Dashboard with a biometric scan or using a hardware security key without ever needing to type a password. Below are the steps to set up a passkey in your Stripe account.

  1. Go to your user profile.
  2. Click Add a passkey under the Passkeys section.
  3. Complete the verification step. Passkeys grant full access to your account therefore a verification step is required to confirm you have full control over the account.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. You will be taken through your browser specific flow for creating a passkey. For example, below is the next step shown after clicking Continue in Chrome 124 on macOS 14.4.1. Follow your browser specific instructions to proceed.Screenshot of Chrome interface for creating a passkey
  6. After completing your browser specific flow for creating a passkey, you will be given the option to change the default generated name of your passkey to a name of your choosing. Once you're satisfied with the name, click Save. This step is very important as the passkey created on your browser in the previous step is not yet registered with Stripe until it is saved.Screenshot of the step to save the passkey
  7. If your account does not have a two-step authentication method and this is your first passkey, you will be shown a backup code. Store it in a safe place as this will used to grant you access to your account if you lose your passkey.

Going forward you can now sign into the Stripe Dashboard using your passkey.
