## What is a 1099 tax form?
A 1099-K form summarizes gross payment transactions if you’re based in the US or are a US taxpayer and is provided to you and the IRS (as well as some US states) based on the following thresholds:
| Tax year | Gross volume threshold | Transaction threshold |
| -------------- | ------------------------ | ------------------------------ |
| 2025 (current) | Greater than $20,000 USD | AND more than 200 transactions |
| 2024 | Greater than $5,000 USD | No transaction requirement |
| 2023 and prior | Greater than $20,000 USD | AND more than 200 transactions |
If you received a 1099 in 2024 but not 2025, this is likely why — the threshold returned to $20,000 and 200 transactions for 2025.
## What is Stripe Express, and how do I access it?
[Stripe Express](https://connect.stripe.com/express_login) allows you to update your tax information, download your tax forms, and view your earnings. As a seller, if you met the 1099-K threshold in the previous calendar year, Stripe will send you an email titled **"Get your Depop 2025 tax forms faster by enabling e-delivery"** inviting you to create an account and log in to Stripe Express.
If you can't find that email, you can [request a new invite link](/express/how-do-i-get-a-new-invite-link). If you still can't locate it, contact [Depop support](https://depophelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new) for help updating your email address.
If you've never accessed Stripe Express before and haven't received an invite, contact [Depop support](https://depophelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new) and ask them to send you an invite link to set up your account.
## I earned enough for a 1099 but haven't received an email from Stripe
If you met the threshold, you should have received an email from Stripe by mid-January. Emails are sent out in phases to Depop sellers starting in November. If you can't find it, check the following:
- **Check your spam folder.** Search for an email titled **"Get your Depop 2025 tax forms faster by enabling e-delivery"**.
- **Check your other email addresses.** Depop may have a different email address on file. Try any other addresses you may have used to sign up for Depop.
- **Your email address may be incorrect or missing.** Contact Depop to update it.
If you don't receive an email from Stripe by mid-January, a paper copy of your 1099 should be mailed to you.
## When will I receive my 1099?
**Your 1099 will only appear in Stripe Express once Depop has filed it with the IRS.** If you believe you're eligible and your form isn't visible, contact [Depop support](https://depophelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new) to confirm the filing status.
If you opted in to e-delivery, your 1099 should be available by January 31. Allow up to 10 business days for paper delivery.

| Starting in November | Stripe emails you instructions to set up your Stripe Express account and opt in to e-delivery. You will need an account to download your 1099 tax form. |
| Before December 31 | Confirm your tax information (name, address, SSN or EIN) is correct in Stripe Express |
| By January 31 | Your 1099 is available to download in Stripe Express (if you opted in to e-delivery), or mailed to you (if you requested paper delivery). Depop files your 1099 with the IRS and relevant state tax authorities. |

## How do I update my tax information?
You can review and update your tax information (name, address, SSN or EIN) directly in [Stripe Express](https://connect.stripe.com/express_login). If you don't have a Stripe Express account yet, open the email from Stripe and click **Get started**. If you can't find that email, you can [request a new invite link](/express/how-do-i-get-a-new-invite-link).
Update your information before December 31. If you don't opt in to e-delivery by then, your 1099 will be mailed automatically to the address on file — make sure it's correct.
If you need to switch between SSN and EIN, contact [Depop support](https://depophelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new) to update your legal entity information.
If you're operating as an individual, sole proprietorship, or single member LLC, the IRS expects to see the individual owner's name and SSN — not a business name and EIN — on your 1099.
## How do I download my 1099?
If you opted in to e-delivery, Stripe will email you when your 1099 is available to download in [Stripe Express](https://express.stripe.com/). If you didn't opt in, a paper copy will be mailed to you instead.
## How do I get a corrected 1099?
If you need corrections made to a 1099 that has already been filed, edit your details on the Tax Forms page in [Stripe Express](https://connect.stripe.com/express_login). Your edits won't appear on the existing form in your dashboard, but they are shared with Depop. Contact [Depop support](https://depophelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new) after making your edits to request a correction. Once Depop files the correction, you'll be notified by email and a new 1099 will appear in your Stripe Express dashboard.
It can take up to 72 hours after Depop files the correction for you to be notified.
## I can't access the phone number I signed up with
If you've lost or changed your phone number, select **I no longer have access to this phone number** to authenticate via email and update your number. See I lost my phone or changed my number — how do I log in to my account? for more information.
## Issues with account claim security questions
Contact [Depop support](https://depophelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new) to confirm the information they have on file matches what you're providing.
## Why is Stripe requesting my SSN, EIN, or ITIN?
Your SSN, EIN, or ITIN is required to file your 1099 tax form with the IRS and relevant state tax authorities.
## Is my tax information secure?
Stripe's security tools and best practices ensure your sensitive information is safely stored and encrypted. [Learn more](https://stripe.com/legal/privacy-center) about the safeguards we have in place. Make sure to keep your Stripe Express login credentials secure.
## Why don't my earnings match my 1099?
For questions about differences in your earnings, see [Depop's help article](https://depophelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/10607447026193-Receiving-your-1099-K-from-Stripe-FAQs).
## Depop told me to contact Stripe
Stripe is not able to access or resend Depop tax forms on your behalf. If Depop support has directed you to Stripe, ask them to escalate your request internally, or ask them to contact Stripe directly on your behalf referencing your Stripe support ticket number if you already have one.
