How does Stripe connect to my linked financial account?

Businesses partner with Stripe to link financial accounts through the following process:

1. In Stripe’s authentication flow, you’ll be able to see what data the business is requesting to access, and you’ll be able to choose which account(s) you want to share with the business and Stripe. You can also choose not to link
your account.

2. If you consent, Stripe can successfully establish a connection to your account in one of two ways:

In some instances, when you input your login credentials in the credential pane, you may be logging in to your financial institution or its service provider directly. In these cases, your financial institution login screen will either open in a new window or you will be redirected to the financial institution’s website. After you input your credentials, your financial institution or its service provider will then provide Stripe with access through a token. Stripe will use the token to regularly obtain information in order to help the business provide you with enhanced experiences such as financial management services or additional payment options.

In other instances, when you input your login credentials in the credential pane, you are providing your credentials to Stripe and one of our trusted service providers. Stripe and our service provider may store and use your credentials to regularly collect updated data and provide it to the business. We do not share your login credentials with the business.

3. Stripe provides the business with the data they’ve requested and you’ve agreed to share.

4. The business provides you with enhanced experiences such as financial management services or additional payment options.
