# Why did Stripe ask me to review my account information?

Stripe periodically asks account holders to review and confirm the information we have on file. You may have received an email asking you to review details like your legal name and address.
This is part of our account information refresh. We proactively notify users to make sure their information is still accurate.
### Is this email legitimate?
Yes, if the email comes from Stripe at **notifications@stripe.com**.
When in doubt, you can skip the email link and verify by logging in directly to your [Stripe Dashboard](https://dashboard.stripe.com/) to review your account information.
Stripe will never ask for your password, bank credentials, or other sensitive information via email.
### Why does Stripe need this?
We know your business changes over time and it's important that we have up-to-date information. This helps us secure your account and meet regulatory requirements. This is a common practice across the payments industry.
### What do I need to do?
If everything in the email looks correct, no action is needed. If anything needs updating, click the button in the email to make changes in the Stripe Dashboard. You'll see a confirmation once saved.
### Are there any consequences if I don't respond?
We encourage you to review your information to ensure we have your most current details on file. Currently, there are no restrictions to not responding and your account will continue to function normally.
