# Updates to Radar pricing (January 2027)

As fraud on the internet has accelerated over the past few years, we've been rapidly adding to [Radar](https://stripe.com/radar), our fraud prevention product. Last year, we blocked USD 110B in fraud, helped platforms block over 3 million fraudulent accounts and shipped dozens of new features. With so much new functionality, we're introducing [four tiers](https://stripe.com/radar/pricing)—Lite, Standard, Plus, and Pro—and updating pricing. **Starting January 22, 2027, new Radar pricing will go into effect.**
This support page is relevant for users on Radar and Radar for Fraud Teams on standard pricing prior to July 29, 2026.

After your trial ends on January 22, 2027, you'll automatically move to Radar Standard and be charged per screened transaction across your direct payment volume, any volume processed by your connected accounts, and per connected account for Radar's new account fraud prevention capabilities where you own loss liability, in line with our [standard pricing](https://stripe.com/radar/pricing).

### How does Radar pricing apply to my platform?
How Radar pricing applies to your platform depends on how you process payments with your connected accounts:
**If you use destination charges or on-behalf-of charges:** You are billed directly for Radar per screened transaction, across your own payment volume and any volume processed through your connected accounts. Starting January 22, 2027, your platform will also be charged per active connected account, where you own loss liability, for account fraud prevention.
**If you use direct charges:** Your connected accounts process payments directly. Who pays for Radar depends on your platform's pricing relationship with Stripe:
* **If Stripe manages pricing for your connected accounts:** Each connected account is billed individually for Radar at their own rate. Connected accounts with Dashboard access can manage their own Radar plan. Connected accounts without Dashboard access receive essential fraud protection on Radar Lite at no additional charge.
* **If your platform manages pricing for your connected accounts:** Your platform is billed for Radar per screened transaction on behalf of your connected accounts. For connected accounts with standard Dashboard access, you can configure them to use Radar Lite through [Radar Settings](https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/radar) in the Dashboard to manage costs. If you also allow connected accounts to run their own Radar rules (by upgrading to Radar Plus or Radar Pro), additional charges may apply.
### What counts as an active connected account?
A connected account is considered active in a given month if it receives at least one payout in that month. You are only charged the per-account fee for active connected accounts.
### Can I control the Radar settings for my connected accounts?
If your platform manages pricing for your connected accounts, you can configure the following in the [Dashboard](https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/radar):
* Whether your platform's Radar rules apply to a connected account's direct charge transactions
* Whether a connected account can see and manage Radar independently
* Whether to set connected accounts to Radar Lite or Radar Standard (if you handle pricing for your accounts)
### Which of my connected accounts are impacted?
To understand which of your connected accounts are impacted, contact the Stripe Support team.
## Payment methods
### What is the cost of LPM screening on Radar?
Stripe charges your current Radar rate for all screened transactions across all payment methods.
### What payment methods do you now support?
Prior to this change, Radar already supported and charged for screening on cards, ACH, and SEPA Direct Debit transactions. Now, Radar's fraud protection blocks high-risk transactions on all Stripe-supported [payment methods](https://stripe.com/blog/expanding-stripe-radar-to-protect-more-of-your-business), including bank debits, wallets, Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) payment methods, and stablecoins.
### Do my Radar rules apply to all payment methods?
Starting October 21, 2026, the custom rules you write with Radar will apply to all supported payment methods. You may use Radar's `:payment_method_type:` attribute to customize your rules to specify which payment methods you want them to apply to, otherwise any rule you write will apply to all payment methods by default.
### Can I opt out of Radar screening on additional payment methods?
If you prefer not to screen transactions on payment methods that are newly covered by Radar, you may request to opt out before the October 21, 2026 effective date by contacting the Stripe Support team. If you opt out, Radar will not screen those payment methods and you won't be billed for them. This opt out applies only to payment methods being added to Radar coverage as part of this update. Payment methods that Radar already screens today are not eligible for opt out.
## Recurring transactions on Stripe Billing
### Why am I now being charged for renewals on Stripe Billing transactions?
Radar has already been screening all your Billing transactions including renewals, trial conversions, and after payment method changes. Every screened transaction will be billed consistently, similar to how it already works for non-Billing recurring payments today.
### What will I be charged for each Radar screen on my Stripe Billing transactions?
Stripe charges your contracted Radar rate per screened transaction.
### What if I don't want to run Radar screens on every Stripe Billing transaction?
You can configure how many billing cycles Radar screens for each subscription in your [Dashboard](https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/radar). You can choose to screen the first {n} cycles and stop screening subsequent renewals on the same payment method. For example, you might choose to screen the first 5 billing cycles and let later renewals pass without screening.
Radar will always screen the first payment for recurring transactions, including after a payment method change, regardless of your configuration. When Radar does not screen a payment, you are not billed for it.
