# Updates to Radar for LPMs and Billing coverage and pricing (October 2026)

Radar is built on fraud models trained on over $1.9 trillion in annual payments volume—and they keep getting better. Over the past three years, Radar users have seen average dispute rates drop 17% and false positives cut in half, all while fraud rose across the industry. To give you more complete protection, we're making two updates to Radar's coverage and pricing:
**Payment methods**
Radar now blocks high-risk transactions across all Stripe-supported [payment methods](https://docs.stripe.com/payments/payment-methods/overview), including digital wallets, bank debits, and Buy Now, Pay Later options. Starting October 21, 2026, Radar pricing will apply to all supported payment methods, not just cards.
**Recurring transactions on Stripe Billing**
Radar protects all transactions in a subscription. Starting October 21, 2026, Radar pricing will apply to all transactions in a subscription, not just the first payment. If you'd prefer not to screen subsequent recurring transactions, you can make that change in the [Dashboard](https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings). There is no change to your Radar per-transaction pricing.
## About Radar
Radar is Stripe's built-in fraud detection and prevention product. It uses AI trained on data from millions of businesses worldwide to automatically identify and prevent fraudulent payments, flag fraudulent accounts in real time, and minimize customer abuse. Unlike other fraud solutions, Radar's AI is trained on more than 70 trillion data points across the Stripe network and requires no integration to get started.

## **Payment methods**
### What is the cost of LPM screening on Radar?
You will be charged the same Radar rate for all screened transactions, including cards and local payment methods.
### What payment methods do you now support?
Prior to this change, Radar already supported and charged for screening on cards, ACH, and SEPA Direct Debit transactions. Now, Radar's fraud protection blocks high-risk transactions on all Stripe-supported [payment methods](https://stripe.com/blog/expanding-stripe-radar-to-protect-more-of-your-business), including bank debits, wallets, Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) payment methods, and stablecoins.
### Do my Radar rules apply to all payment methods?
Starting October 21, 2026, the custom rules you write with Radar will apply to all supported payment methods. You may use Radar's `:payment_method_type:` attribute to customize your rules to specify which payment methods you want them to apply to, otherwise any rule you write will apply to all payment methods by default.
### Can I opt out of Radar screening on additional payment methods?
If you prefer not to screen transactions on payment methods that are newly covered by Radar, you may request to opt out before the October 21, 2026 effective date by contacting the Stripe Support team. If you opt out, Radar will not screen those payment methods and you will not be billed for them. This opt out applies only to payment methods being added to Radar coverage as part of this update. Payment methods that Radar already screens today are not eligible for opt out.
## **Recurring transactions on Stripe Billing**
### Why am I now being charged for renewals on Stripe Billing transactions?
Radar has already been screening all your Billing transactions including renewals, trial conversions, and after payment method changes. Going forward, every screened transaction will be billed consistently, similar to how it already works for non-Billing recurring payments today.
### What will I be charged for each Radar screen on my Stripe Billing transactions?
You will be charged your contracted Radar rate per screened transaction.
### What if I don't want to run Radar screens on every Stripe Billing transaction?
You can configure how many billing cycles Radar screens for each subscription in your [Dashboard](https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/radar). You can choose to screen the first {n} cycles and stop screening subsequent renewals on the same payment method. For example, you might choose to screen the first 5 billing cycles and let later renewals pass without screening.
Radar will always screen the first payment for recurring transactions, including after a payment method change, regardless of your configuration. When Radar does not screen a payment, you are not billed for it.
## **General**
### Will my fee reporting look different?
As a part of this update, we're renaming several Radar product names that appear in your existing fee reporting today, including:
* "Radar for Platforms Account Features" changes to "Radar Active Account Fee"
* "Radar - usage fee" changes to "Radar Screened Transaction Fee"
* "Radar for Fraud Teams - transaction fee" changes to "Radar Screened Transaction Fee"
If you have automated workflows, Sigma queries, or accounting integrations that match on Radar product names in your fee data, you may need to update them to reflect the new names.
### Why did I get this notice?
This support page provides you with more details on the notice we sent you describing changes to certain fees. That notice is a legal notice sent to businesses that use Stripe, even those who have unsubscribed from optional marketing notices. You cannot unsubscribe from legal notices, but if you'd prefer not to receive any further legal notices from Stripe, you can close your account.
Your continued use of Stripe services after October 21, 2026 is subject to these fee changes. Any termination rights you have under your agreement with us are unaffected by this change.
### Do I need to take action?
There's no action needed from you at this time and these changes will automatically apply to your business starting October 21, 2026.
