# TWINT Onboarding

TWINT is a single-use payment method used in Switzerland. It allows customers to authenticate and approve payments using an approved TWINT mobile app.
## Enabling TWINT on your Stripe account
To enable TWINT on your account:
1. Click the **Settings** gear icon in the upper-right corner of your [Stripe Dashboard](http://dashboard.stripe.com/).
1. Under the **Product settings** section, click **Payments**.
1. Select the [Payment methods tab](https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/payment_methods).
1. Hover over the TWINT payment type and click **Turn on**.
Clicking **Turn on** moves move your account’s TWINT payments capability into a `pending` state. This state indicates ongoing checks against TWINT merchant onboarding requirements. In some cases, merchants will see the TWINT capability transition to the pending state shortly after their first transactions as well.
The pending state can persist for several days, turning into either `active` or `inactive` depending on the outcome of TWINT's merchant onboarding requirements [compliance verification](/questions/twint-onboarding#merchant-onboarding-requirements).
Depending on your Stripe integration, you may need to take additional steps to start accepting that payment method on your site. We recommend using a hosted integration like [Checkout](https://stripe.com/docs/payments/checkout) so the payment method is available right away, without any code changes.
## TWINT merchant onboarding requirements
On top of the applicable [TWINT Payment Method terms](https://stripe.com/legal/twint), the following requirements must be met in order for merchants to be allowed to display TWINT on their checkout:
1. Merchants must have a functional website. The website must be reachable, not password protected, and not '*coming soon*.'
1. Merchants’ websites must contain the following information visible in the ‘legal notice’ or terms of service / Terms & Conditions:
   * Company name and legal form. For sole proprietorships: the full first and last name of the business owner.
   * Full business address, including street, house number, postal code, and city.
   * Contact details, providing at least one of the following: an email address and/or a telephone number.
1. Switzerland must be available as a shipping destination if you’re selling physical goods, and prices must be displayed in CHF (Swiss Francs), at the latest during the checkout process
