# Trust-chain update for Stripe TLS certificates starts February 16, 2026: What to expect and how to avoid disruptions

Starting **February 16, 2026**, Stripe will begin issuing TLS certificates from **new root certificates** for all Stripe domains (including `api.stripe.com`). This updates the trust chain used for Stripe HTTPS connections to maintain browser/OS trust and help prevent future disruptions.
For `api.stripe.com`, the next root will now likely be issued from **“DigiCert Assured ID Root G2”**. However, we may issue from any Certificare Authority (CA) listed in our documentation without further pre-notice.
## What you need to do
- If your system doesn’t perform certificate pinning, no action is required.
- If your system performs certificate pinning, you must update your configuration to match the **TLS certificates listed in our docs** to avoid disruptions to your ability to process payments: [Root Certificates for Stripe Domains](https://docs.stripe.com/tls-certificates#root-certificates-for-stripe-domains)
## If you run into issues
If you still experience **TLS certificate errors** while connecting to Stripe domains between **February 16, 2026 and April 15, 2026**, contact Stripe Support and cite this notice. Ask for escalation to the **Edge and Network Infrastructure** teams.
