Taxes on Stripe fees for Mexico-based businesses

For Stripe account holders in Mexico, value-added tax ("Impuesto al Valor Agregado" in Spanish, referred to as IVA) applies to all Stripe fees at the prevailing standard rate. The IVA charge is applied in addition to Stripe's product and service fees.

Since 1 April 2023, Stripe has been issuing monthly IVA invoices (version 4.0) to account holders that comply with the requirements needed to create electronic invoices (CFDI). If your tax information has been updated in the SAT official records in any of the following cases, please update your tax information in the Stripe Dashboard:

  1. If your legal name and RFC have been updated, you will need to update your information in your Tax details to match the details in your Constancia de Situación Fiscal exactly.
  2. If your business address or ownership details have been updated, you will need to update your details in your Business information.
  3. Once your details have been updated, you will need to upload your Constancia de Situación Fiscal again in your Stripe Dashboard.

If you fail to upload your Constancia de Situación Fiscal and update your tax information through your Stripe Dashboard, Stripe will be unable to issue your monthly IVA Invoice. Instead, Stripe will include your fees in a monthly global invoice issued to the general public. Where this is the case, it may not be possible for you to obtain certain tax deductions or credits for your company.

To comply with requirements regarding the safety and privacy of your data, Stripe will only accept documents sent through your Stripe Dashboard.
