# Supporting companies that registered in Estonia through e-residency 

[E-residency](http://e-resident.gov.ee) is a government-issued digital identity that allows entrepreneurs from anywhere in the world to access Estonia’s business environment. Stripe supports companies that have registered in Estonia through the e-residency program. However, at this time, the place of residency for individuals associated with your account needs to be located in one of the [countries currently supported by Stripe](https://stripe.com/global).
If you are based in a country outside of a country where you are able to open a Stripe payment processing account, you may be able to set up your business as a US company by using [Stripe Atlas](https://stripe.com/atlas). You can also [request to be notified](https://stripe.com/global) when Stripe becomes available in your country.
