Your business credit history constitutes past credit performance with lenders who are members of the Small Business Financial Exchange (SBFE), a business creditor trade association. Small business lenders contribute their commercial credit performance data to the SBFE, which shares this data with other members for credit decisioning and portfolio monitoring.
Stripe will access your business credit history from the SBFE if either:
We will regularly access your business credit history from SBFE to better understand your business. Email support-capital@stripe.com if you would like Stripe to stop accessing your business credit history.
Stripe uses Dun & Bradstreet, a SBFE certified vendor, to access your business credit history from SBFE. Stripe will access a business credit report that includes any past and current credit products that your business has taken with other SBFE lenders and your performance on those products.
This is not a personal credit check and has no impact on your personal credit score.
If you email support-capital@stripe.com, we will stop accessing your business’s credit history. You may, however, give us your consent to access your business’s credit history again by providing consent in the dashboard or emailing us.
Stripe will retain your business credit history for up to 5 years, but you can email support-capital@stripe.com to have Stripe delete our copy of your business credit history that we obtained from SBFE. Please note that as permitted by applicable law, Stripe retains certain information, including information needed to comply with our legal obligations. You can read more about our retention practices in our Privacy Policy. If you would like to seek data deletion from SBFE, please contact SBFE directly.
We maintain organizational, technical, and administrative measures designed to protect your business information against unauthorized access, destruction, loss, alteration, or misuse. In particular, all data associated with business credit is encrypted in transit and at rest. Because of the sensitive nature of this information, it is also protected by additional access controls, along with ongoing monitoring to prevent data misuse. Learn more about the safeguards we've put in place to protect data transfers and control access.
Yes. Stripe Capital reports loan performance for US businesses to the Small Business Financial Exchange. We don’t share any other data about your financial performance with SBFE. SBFE will use this information to build a financial profile for your business, and it can help your business get access to credit with other providers.
