# Sign in to Stripe CLI

## How to sign in
**Sign-in transition:** Stripe CLI is gradually transitioning to browser-based OAuth sign-in. Until it’s available to you, use restricted API-key authentication or `--api-key`.
### If browser-based sign-in is available to you
Run:
```
stripe login
```
Follow the browser prompts to sign in, select an account, and provide consent.
Before you complete authorization, the sign-in experience shows the account and Dashboard role that Stripe CLI will use.
### If browser-based sign-in isn’t available to you
Use restricted API-key authentication or provide an API key directly with `--api-key`.
## Stripe CLI permissions
Stripe CLI authenticates requests as your Stripe user and uses the permissions associated with your Dashboard role for the account you authorize. You can use Stripe CLI only with accounts that your Stripe user can access. Stripe CLI does not provide access beyond your Dashboard role.
### Why can’t I select the account I want?
Ask an account administrator to review your Dashboard access and confirm that you have access to the account.
### What happens if my Dashboard access changes?
If your Dashboard access is revoked, Stripe CLI access is also revoked. If you receive additional permissions, reauthorize Stripe CLI to use them.
