Reporting a fraudulent transaction from a business using Stripe

Customers who believe that they have been a victim of fraudulent transactions from businesses using Stripe should file a dispute with their bank. Disputes, or chargebacks, are a feature of card networks like Visa, Mastercard and American Express to protect cardholders from fraudulent activities. If a customer is unsure which business charged them, they can use Stripe's secure charge look-up tool to identify the business.

If you believe that you have been a victim of fraud, you should file a dispute with your bank. Disputes, also known as chargebacks, are a feature of the Visa, Mastercard and American Express card networks intended to protect you, the cardholder, from fraudulent activity (e.g. following a theft or card cloning). The dispute process can also be used to reverse authorised card payments made in justified cases of breaches of consumer rights.
