Phone number requirements for US Stripe accounts
Phone numbers are required as part of Stripe’s onboarding process. Stripe is required by our financial partners to collect phone numbers associated with the business/legal entity and/or the persons associated with the Stripe account. This information helps Stripe further understand the business and the persons associated with the account.
When opening a Stripe account in the United States, we require:
-
Business phone number: A valid and active US-based phone number.
- If your Stripe account is set up as Individual/Sole Prop type, business phone number isn't required.
-
Customer support number: A valid phone number (can be in any country). This can be the same as the business phone number.
- The customer support number is shared with card networks and surfaced on cardmember statements and transaction details including payment statements, invoices, and receipts.
-
Representative/owner number: A valid phone number (can be in any country).
- If your Stripe account is set up as Individual/Sole Prop type, the representative/owner phone number must be an active US-based phone number.
