UAE ownership verification requirements

As part of the onboarding process, Stripe is required to verify the identity of any owners and managers added to your account. These individuals are required to provide different documents and information depending on their nationality and place of residence:

UAE or GCC nationals living in the UAE:

  • Passport
  • Emirates ID

Non-UAE or non-GCC nationals living in the UAE:

  • Passport
  • Emirates ID
  • Residence visa (physical page within your passport or digital visa from ICA app)
    • For visas issued after April 11th 2022, we will accept an Emirates ID in place of a residence visa

Individuals residing outside the UAE:

  • Passport

Expired documents are not accepted. If any of the required documents have expired or are in the process of being renewed, you'll need to wait until you can upload the renewed document to complete verification.

Power of Attorney

If the company representative/manager on your account is not named on the memorandum of association or the trade license as a manager, you'll be asked to provide a Power of Attorney document. This document should be on company letterhead and serve as proof that the individual currently on the Stripe account has been nominated by the business to open a Stripe account on its behalf.
