More information about our notification to you

We’d like to reassure you that Stripe’s services in Europe will continue to run without disruption regardless of the outcome of Brexit and that your user experience will be unaffected.

Why did Stripe change my regulated payment services provider?

Your credit and debit card payments will be processed by our Irish entity, Stripe Technology Europe, Limited (STEL), which is authorised as an Electronic Money Institution and regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland (reference number: C187865), instead of our UK regulated entity. We will make this adjustment gradually over the coming weeks and it will be completed by 31 October 2019.

If you accept alternative payment methods, Stripe Payments UK Limited (SPUKL), our UK regulated entity, will continue to process these payments for you until the Brexit outcome is clear. If there is a no-deal Brexit, STEL will replace SPUKL in processing these payments. Our top priority is to ensure there will be no disruption of Stripe’s services to you, regardless of the outcome of Brexit. We will update you if we make any other adjustments.

The only difference you may notice is that when you receive payouts from Stripe, the statement descriptor on your bank account statement may refer to STEL or SPUKL.

Do I need to take any action?

No, this back-end change doesn’t require any action from you.

If you are a Platform with Custom Connected Accounts in the EEA (excluding the UK or Switzerland), please update them of this change. You do not need to notify Custom Connected Accounts located in the UK or Switzerland, as this change does not affect them.

Will anything else change?

If you receive payouts from Stripe, you will notice on your bank account statement that the statement descriptor of your payouts may refer to our UK entity SPUKL or to our Irish entity STEL.

What if I don’t agree with this?

If you have an account manager, please contact them to discuss any of your concerns. If not, you have the option to close your Stripe account and stop using our services at any time. We hope you won’t make that decision and that we can continue supporting your business.

Any other questions?

If you have questions, please get in touch via support.stripe.com/contact or your account manager.
