# India Billing and Invoicing charges FAQ

**I am a merchant operating in India. What is the pricing for Invoicing and Billing?**
As of 17 July 2023, Stripe will charge 0.5% for [Billing Starter](https://stripe.com/en-in/billing/pricing), 0.8% for [Billing Scale](https://stripe.com/billing/pricing), 0.4% for [Invoicing Starter](https://stripe.com/en-in/invoicing/pricing) and 0.5% for [Invoicing Plus](https://stripe.com/en-in/invoicing/pricing).
**Why is the pricing for Invoicing and Billing changing?**
Stripe charges a variable rate for [Invoicing](http://stripe.com/invoicing) and [Billing](http://stripe.com/billing) usage, as described on our product pages.
India is subject to data locality laws which govern where and how certain payment data is stored. To comply with these laws, Stripe historically could not and did not charge merchants in India for Invoicing and Billing usage. In 2023, Stripe invested in the necessary infrastructure to support fee collection in India. As of17 July 2023, all Invoicing and Billing usage will be billed according to the publicly available product pricing pages for [Billing](http://stripe.com/billing/pricing) and [Invoicing](http://stripe.com/invoicing/pricing).
**I was charged for Invoicing and/or Billing and I am a merchant operating in India. What's going on?**
Some customers in India were inadvertently billed for usage during the period of 26 February to 16 May 2023. We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience and we will refund you for any Billing and Invoicing fees incurred during this time period – no action is required from you.
