If you've interacted with Stripe or a merchant who uses Stripe, it's possible Stripe has collected information from you in your capacity as a Stripe user or as a consumer. Please see the appropriate section below in order to action your request.
Please note that Stripe may nonetheless retain your personal data where permitted by law, including to comply with our legal obligations. For example, as a provider of payment services, Stripe is required to comply with many regulations, including anti-terrorism and anti-money laundering laws. These laws require Stripe to retain certain information associated with Stripe users for a prescribed period of time after account closure. If you have a Stripe user account, you can close your account in the settings of your Stripe dashboard. You can read more about that here: Close a Stripe account.
Once you complete the account closure steps, we will delete your data in accordance with applicable law.
If you signed up for Link on the Link website or when you’ve made a purchase from a business that uses Link, you can delete your account by going to the settings page on the Link website, or by following this guide.
If you are a customer who’s had your identity verified by a Stripe Identity user(s), we need to verify and authenticate your request in order to delete your information. In order to authenticate your request, please send an email to privacy@stripe.com to begin the process. Please include the name and date of birth that you submitted (either by way of ID document or keyed-in data), along with the names and websites of your merchant(s) who verified you via Stripe Identity.
Our service provider will only use your credentials in order to obtain your bank account data for your requested transactions, and will delete your credentials shortly after obtaining the bank account data.
We may retain your bank account data even after we cease providing services to your merchant to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations. Please see our support site page related to Canada Bank Debit Verification for more.
If you are the customer of a Stripe user (merchant), the Stripe user may be responsible for responding to your query and we recommend you reach out to them directly.
