# How Stripe complies with the Electronic Record Retention Law

The Electronic Record Retention Law allows national tax-related books and documents to be saved as electronic data instead of paper, provided certain requirements are met.
* Retention of books
  * Stripe retains transaction data for 10 years from the transaction date.
  * You can manage access rights by changing [team member roles](https://stripe.com/docs/account/teams/roles).
  * You can check invoice changes from the [Invoices page in the Dashboard](https://dashboard.stripe.com/invoices).
* Search requirements
  * You can search for invoice information that meets the three search requirements stipulated by the Electronic Record Retention Law enacted on January 1, 2022: transaction date, transaction amount, and trading partner.
Past transaction data, including receipts and invoices issued through Stripe, is available on the payment details page in the [Dashboard](https://dashboard.stripe.com/payments).
If you need to download these documents during a tax audit, document submission methods and electronic transactions outside of Stripe must also meet the requirements of the Electronic Record Retention Law.
