# How does updating my business information affect Connect 1099 filing?

This article is for platforms filing 1099 tax forms for connected accounts.
For Express or Custom connected accounts, see the Express Support Site.

When filing forms for a platform’s connected accounts, Stripe uses the payer information available at the time of filing in that platform’s [**Tax reporting** settings](https://dashboard.stripe.com/acct_1NTmyaAjUzTTkQFk/settings/connect/tax-reporting/1099-forms). This information appears in the **Payer info** section on your connected accounts’ 1099s.
You can update your payer information anytime before filing and it will automatically reflect on your connected accounts’ unfiled 1099s. If you update your connected account’s payee information after the [mid-February deadline](https://docs.stripe.com/connect/get-started-tax-reporting), however, these changes will not automatically populate their unfiled 1099 tax forms.
Updating your legal entity information or your **Tax reporting** settings doesn’t automatically split the 1099 tax forms sent to your connected accounts. Learn how to split a tax form between multiple entities.
If **Payer tax identity**, **Payer address**, or **Payer phone number** are set to **Use default** in your [**Tax reporting** settings](https://dashboard.stripe.com/acct_1NTmyaAjUzTTkQFk/settings/connect/tax-reporting/1099-forms), these fields will automatically update when you change your [business settings](https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/account) in **Settings** > **Business**.
If you turn off **Use default**, these fields will only update when you edit them directly in your [**Tax reporting** settings](https://dashboard.stripe.com/acct_1NTmyaAjUzTTkQFk/settings/connect/tax-reporting/1099-forms); editing your business info will not affect them.
